Saint Aloysius

Parish Family 32

A deed dated November 30, 1890 indicates that five members of the Wickersham family deeded property for the sum of one dollar to the Bishop of Nisqually for the purpose of building a Catholic Church in Buckley.

Construction was underway by 1892, and the new mission church of Saint Aloysius was attached to All Saint’s Parish, Puyallup until 1910, when it was transferred to Sacred Heart Parish in Enumclaw. At some point, Saint Aloysius became a mission of St. Andrew’s Parish in Sumner, where it remained until it was erected as a parish in 1954.

Construction of the parish hall and CCD Center was completed in March 1966.

The St. Aloysius Church building was moved from the corner of Mason and Naches Street two blocks and relocated on ground next to the parish hall on October 21, 1982.
