In the fall of 1924 Father Hubert J. Mertens gathered the Catholics of Midland and Summit in the home of Frank Dillion and celebrated the first parish Mass. Private homes were used for the celebration of Mass until a church could be built, in 1930. This first church was destroyed by fire December 20, 1940.

The present church which was completed December 14, 1947. St. John has been part of the South East Tacoma Cluster since 1994.

Liturgical Schedule
